Each public school is required to establish a School Leadership Team. This group develops an annual Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) which determines the policies, procedures and programs that create the environment in which our children learn. It consists of five staff members including the principal, guidance counselor and UFT union representative; two classroom teachers; one of the co-presidents of the PTA and four elected parent members. This group has the extremely important and rewarding job of defining our schools educational goals and and coming up with immediate and long range solutions.

Members of the PS3 community who are not among those officially elected to serve on he SLT may still come to meetings to observe and are encouraged to talk to the elected representatives outside of meetings regarding your concerns and to make suggestions.

Minutes from its meetings and reports on its activities are presented at the monthly PTA meetings.

SLT Elections to be held at the next PTA Meeing.

We will elect parent representatives to serve on PS3’s School Leadership Team at the next PTA meeting, Tuesday, June 9, at 6:15.

Elected parents serve up to two terms on the SLT. Of this year’s four team members, Nikki DeSantis, Randy Martin and Mary Cozza are completing their final year (a big thank you to them, as well as outgoing co-president Samantha Harmon, for all their hard work!) and Sharlene Breakey is running for her second term. Robin Burchill, Stephen Duncumbe, Susan Crowson, and Andrew Shapiro have all stepped up to run for their first terms (click on names to read short bios).

Please come vote! If you're interested in finding out more, contact Sharlene Breakey at sharleneb@mac.com. Or attend the last SLT meeting of the year, which will be held Friday, June 19 at 7:30 a.m.; all are welcome to observe.
